What:
The “China 5.12 Earthquake Condolence” fundraising drive’s kickoff event will feature eyewitness accounts by KSU faculty and students just returning from a study abroad trips and conferences in China. KSU faculty, staff and students will perform Chinese music and read poetry to honor earthquake victims.
Who:
Representatives of the partnering organizations — KSU’s Institute for Global Initiatives and Asian Studies Program and local affiliates of the National Association of Chinese Americans — will be on hand answer questions and accept monetary contributions.
When:
Wednesday, June 4, 11 a.m. – 2. p.m.
Where:
KSU Student Center, Rooms A-E.

Visitor Parking is available near the Student Center. We will have the following major activities:
1). Earthquake information sharing (speakers, discussions, posters, computers, etc.);
2). Eyewitness account from faculty and students who just returned from China for study abroad and conferences;
3). Lecture on the history of earthquake in China and the progression of crisis management for earthquake;
3). Poetry reading to memorize those hurt by the earthquake by KSU faculty, staff and students;
4). Fundraising, including collecting checks and cash in the University Room and across campus;
5). There might be some simple entertainment, such as Erhu playing and others.
6). There will be representatives from two local Chinese community organizations participating: NACA (National Association of Chinese Americans) and ACP (Association of Chinese Professionals).
We might have new activites to add.
