10/11 is the PSAT test for many high school students. This test is exceedingly important, as high scoring students may receive the National Merit Scholarship, part of a very prestigious organization. Without preparation, the PSAT can be extremely difficult , but HOPE's review class taught by Dr. Sarah Caldwell is a great way to prepare and succeed.

PSAT covers reading, writing and math. For the reading passages, I will teach a strategy for taking notes. These notes help them answer questions about the text and the graphs and charts that accompany it. For the writing section, I will review the basics of English and have them practice analysis for the essay. Many math items, whether with or without calculator. require the student to read one or more sentences before even creating the equation to be solved through computation. A few problems involve interpretation of tables, charts and graphs. Most items are multiple choice but some require the student to grid in the answer. Each part requires a somewhat strategy, which I will teach them.
